Sencha Okumidori - Snowing Mountain Tea
CHF 19.00

Okumidori tea is a cross between Yabukita and Zairai, the most original Japanese tea plants. The name is composed of the words "Oku" (late) and "Midori" (green) and refers to the dark green leaves that grow a little later in the season. All Chiyonoen teas are grown 100% organically, without the use of chemical fertilizers.

Thanks to the geographical and climatic conditions, lower sun exposure and milder temperatures, the tea bushes grow more slowly, developing intense and rich flavors. The tea has a mild flavor with a fruity note and a slight sweetness reminiscent of milk chocolate.

Chiyonoen is a small tea farm in the famous tea growing area of Yame, Japan, which is run by the husband and wife team of Masashi and Eri Harashima. The farmland is located at an altitude of 600 meters and is occasionally covered by snow, which is unusual for tea cultivation.

For the best drinking experience, tea leaves should be steeped in 70°C hot water for 60 to 90 seconds. As an orientation: 2.5 grams of tea leaves (1 teaspoon) for 60ml of water is sufficient, for 200ml of water you need 4 grams of tea leaves with the same preparation time.
