Genmaicha (60g)
CHF 14.50

Genmaicha is a popular tea variety from Japan that consists of a traditional blend of green sencha and roasted brown rice grains. It produces a refreshing, buttery and sweet flavor, a nutty aroma and a bright yellow hue. This Genmaicha is grown on small organic farms on Kyushu Island, the southernmost tea-producing region of Japan.

The history of Genmaicha dates back to an incident in 16th century Japan when a servant accidentally served a shogun a tea with stolen rice grains. The shogun was so delighted with the taste that he decided to include it in his daily diet. Today, Genmaicha is known as "popcorn tea."

Genmaicha tea is not only delicious, but also healthy. It contains medium amounts of caffeine and helps to promote the digestive system. During long periods of fasting, Buddhist monks often feed only on Genmaicha. In addition, it is rich in catechins and antioxidants that slow the aging process, remove toxins, reduce bad cholesterol, lower sugar levels and improve dental health. It also contains vitamin C, beta-carotene, folic acid, potassium, calcium and phosphorus.
